9.24.24

This first post is going to be more like a blog entry as there was a lot that happened in between beginning and now. I started off with virtually zero experience when it comes to HTML, CSS, anything in that realm so it was a tedious process learning the flow of how these things work. It started with reading lots of guides and breakdowns of how HTML works, which was nice, but it took actually just fiddling with the code to really get a grasp of things. i should have started this log much earlier but got distracted by building out the bones of the site first.

I started with sadgirls layout maker like many have. I believe my first goals were to change the background and header image. after getting comfurtable with that i decided i needed a cohesive theme before i could really start making any changes so i just grabbed my old tumblr wallpaper and used that. I dont think this is what i want the site to look like forever, but it works perfectly fine for now.

After changing the background, I messed around with changing the colors of all the elements to match. The colors of the boxes, the font, I looked up how to add transparency, how to round corners, i took out all the space filler text from the layout and filled it in with my own, all of that was pretty straight forward and happened in one fell swoop.

Next I looked into links and pages. I took my index.html page and just copy pasted it to create other pages for various things, put links to those in the sidebar and called it good

It was at this point as I was exploring sites that i came across (gay imp lair) and i really liked how he had an iframe that his sites pages would show up in. I decided that I wanted to implement something similar and i set about trying to understand iframes. This took maybe 3 days or so ( a few hours each evening) to figure out how to make it all work. I was very proud of figuring out how to make the pages look just how i wanted and it was the first time that I created an HTML document from scratch without any template. All the about, changelog, interest/shrine pages are the result of this.

I had a day or two where I was figuring out the buttons on the interests/shrine page, the transparent backgrounds were showing up white.

The latest thing that I've been working on was replacing the header image. This took a few days as well as i became familiar with different ways to place images and manipulate their specific locations. I thought i had it down, then checked it on some other monitors and it looked bad, reworked it and now I think its in a good spot. Still have to design a better welcome image.

That brings us up to the present where I am working on starting the changelog page. Future posts here will be much more brief. Thanks for reading!
